NUMU Workshop
Using the concept of an online ‘Record Label’ as a launching point this hands on day is an essential introduction to getting the most from NUMU for staff and students.

The aim of the day is to equip a core group of students with all the knowledge and skills they need to run a NUMU label in school, involve the rest of the school and act as trainers/mentors for other students/teachers.

We also ensure that staff are confident to use the site, manage students work and create projects. We look at how to implement NUMU within current activities and curriculum objectives and at the cross curricular opportunities to ensure broad support within the school.

The first session introduces students to NUMU where they set up their accounts and create their own pages including profiles, pictures and blogs. Students explore the site and create their own top ten of favourite music and look at how other students have developed their NUMU identities.

In the second session we explore what a ‘NUMU Label’ is and how it is going to be run. Students work together to develop a label name, logo and mission statement. Each student is assigned a role in developing the label and present back to the group their concepts and action plans.

The workshop ensures that students have ownership over the project and are fully engaged and empowered to take it to the rest of the school whilst teachers have the knowledge and confidence to use all aspects of the site, facilitate activities and key them into their curriculum objectives.
